Will You Pass The Test?

The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty - Proverbs 22:3

LOGLINE: When caught in a disaster, who would you save?  If you knew about the disaster before it strikes, who would you let die?  What if the choices you make now determine whether or not you are worthy to pass The Test.

The Test is a feature-length psychological drama that will draw audiences to theaters as everyone will have the same question—What would you do if you were put in the same situation?  Resonating with the uncertainty of potential real-life global disasters, anyone who sees this film will debate about it for years to come.

SYNOPSIS

Marianne is ready to breakup with her unreliable boyfriend, but she gives their love one more shot when he agrees to attend a relationship seminar, The Test.  What she doesn’t know is that during the seminar the test facilitators are looking for more than a couple’s compatibility.  When Marianne passes The Test it is revealed that the purpose of the seminar was to screen the population for the best and the brightest to enter The Survivor’s Colony.  In the face of a pending global catastrophe, Marianne is forced to choose between leaving everyone she loves to perish in the disaster, or conform to the rules of The Survivor’s Colony to save her own life.

The Test is a narrative feature film about an impending global catastrophe and the scientists who know when it will occur.  To determine who will be saved from the disaster the scientists administer an experimental psychological test to examine the way people behave when hard-pressed.  The Test is a unique disaster film that is told from the viewpoint of testing the darkest aspects of human behavior to find worthy survivors.  The story brings attention to disaster-related crimes, such as the violence committed against women during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the film challenges societal norms about how people treat one another.

The Director's Message:

According to recent research by Parker et al (2019) only 4% of film directors are female, with male characters being overrepresented in leading roles and dominate in terms of importance to film stories (Chen & Cui, 2020).  People tend to believe and act upon what they see.  Therefore, if the images presented by the media are limited in their depictions of women, viewers will behave according to these limited models. Hence, creating unique female protagonists and storylines is crucial in contributing important messages to society about women’s issues.  The Test will feature strong female leads, including an award winning actress, underrepresented minority voices, and a stellar production crew.  With a total budget of $100,000 the Sullied Bride Productions crew will be able to shoot, edit, and distribute the film in one year.  This high-quality film will include an unforgettable story, memorable original score, and reach audiences across all demographics.
